Hong Kong, 7 May 2026 — MODAL Electronics today announces the launch of ELEMENT One, an 8-voice virtual-analog synthesizer designed to bridge the gap between complex synthesis and intuitive musical performance. Developed in collaboration with the renowned Hartmann Design team, ELEMENT One prioritizes immediate inspiration and expressive playability over dense menu-diving.
Performance First, Science Later
While many modern synthesizers require deep technical knowledge, ELEMENT One is built for musicians who want to “play with sound”. Featuring 37 full-size, velocity-sensitive keys with aftertouch, the instrument captures every nuance of a player’s touch. A tactile 4-axis joystick and 17 direct-access control knobs allow for real-time sound shaping, turning the synthesizer into a responsive instrument that breathes with the performer.
Sonic Power and Versatility
Underneath its sleek, minimalist steel and polycarbonate enclosure lies a powerhouse sound engine:
- 8-Voice Polyphony: 64 high-resolution oscillators (up to 8 per voice) delivering everything from vintage warmth to modern grit.
- Vast Filtering: Over 30 resonant filter types, including morphable and static options.
- Studio-Grade FX: Three independent stereo engines for reverb, delay, chorus, and more, which can be arranged in any order.
- Instant Inspiration: 300 factory presets categorized by character for fast selection, plus compatibility with thousands of COBALT8 patches.
Seamless Integration
ELEMENT One is designed to fit into any musical ecosystem, from a guitarist’s pedalboard to a DJ’s live rig or a professional DAW setup. It features USB-C MIDI, MIDI In/Out, Sync I/O, and a stereo audio input that allows external sources to be processed through its internal FX engines. For deeper editing, the free MODALapp provides a comprehensive visual interface across macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android.
“ELEMENT One is for musicians and producers who want more sound and more expression without turning into full-time programmers,” says the MODAL team. “It doesn’t ask you to learn the rules; it dares you to play.”
Availability
ELEMENT One is road-ready, weighing just 4.5 kg, and is available through authorized retailers for MSRP 649 €/ or MAP $599 . For more information, visit the MODAL Electronics website.
